1) The most obvious way for you to source your own cleaner would be to advertise in your local paper

You can place an advert in your local paper - if your advert is worded well you will probably receive about a dozen enquiries through to whatever phone number you have given.

We maintain a database of mature and reliable cleaners that we use to find the most suitable match for each of our clients particular needs

2) You will need to conduct a short telephone interview with each person that rings you

You will need to ascertain from each telephone conversation whether or not the person is suitable to be interviewed... this can be a little awkward if you happen to know them.

We will have already taken care of this as part of our selection and vetting process for our cleaners database

3) Arrange to interview about half of the people you have spoken to

You should interview the prospective cleaners in person to enable you to make a decision on their suitability to clean in your home, and decide if you would be happy for them to be key-holders and have access to alarm codes etc, if you are not going to be home when the cleaning work is being carried out

We interview and vet all prospective cleaners in their own homes which provides us with a really good insight into how suitable this person would be to clean in our clients homes

Any cleaner we introduce to our clients will have been 'well drilled' in the responsibilities of key holding and security system access

4) Follow up on the cleaners references and do proper ID checks

For your own peace of mind, you should follow up on and check and verify all the cleaners references and carry out proper ID checks

Before we would even consider a cleaner for inclusion on our database of cleaners we write to their referees to seek written references that are mailed directly to us, all of which are kept on file

More To Life carry out stringent ID checks in the cleaners own home which include 'proof of address' and proper photographic ID checks and national insurance identification checks where applicable

It is also possible that you may find a cleaner by way of recommendation from a friend or work colleague...

If this is the case, you will have saved yourself quite a bit of work, but it would still be advisable to do proper reference and ID checks for your own peace of mind... it is not unusual for people that have arranged their own cleaner to end up working with just a first name and a mobile phone number... and that's it!

... even if you have been recommended a cleaner, everything else below is still relevant to you, so please read on...

5) Make your choice and appoint a cleaner, arrange to meet them at your home to discuss cleaning instructions

Once you have made your selection from the people that you have interviewed, it will be necessary for you to meet with your cleaner to discuss your cleaning arrangements and how you want things done

We will ring you with the name of the cleaner that we have selected for you and then you'll have the opportunity to meet with them and make sure that you are happy for cleaning to commence

More To Life will provide you with a task sheet and all you'll need to do is tick of the jobs that you want done (and when) and give the sheet to your cleaner when you meet

Once cleaning commences, we'll keep a check on things to make sure that everything is happening as has been arranged, and help to iron out any teething problems... and we'll keep in regular phone contact with you throughout the settling in period to make sure that you're happy with your new regular cleaner

Thereafter... give us a ring if there are any problems

6) If things just aren't working out with your cleaner after several weeks or a month

You will have to decide whether to live with it or to dismiss your cleaner and basically go back to square one, as the other cleaners that you interviewed at the beginning will probably have moved on to other things by now

If for any reason things aren't working out with the cleaner that we have introduced to you, just let us know and we'll start selecting you a replacement cleaner straightaway... and we can deal with things in such a way that there will be no awkwardness between you and your cleaner

From the outset More To Life use everything at our disposal to select a suitable cleaner for your particular requirements, therefore the chances of a cleaner not being suitable are greatly reduced by letting us take care of everything

7) If things just aren't working out with your cleaner after a longer period of time

Again, you will have to decide whether to live with it or dismiss your cleaner and go back to square one... although the fact that the cleaner has been with you for a longer period of time now, can make this a little more difficult as there will probably be more of a relationship has built up between you and your cleaner by now

Again, just let us know and we'll start selecting you a suitable replacement cleaner straightaway... and we can deal with it in such a way that there will be no awkwardness between you and your cleaner

8) Your cleaner has to take some time off

You will be without a cleaner for whatever period of time this is

We'll ask you if you'd be happy to wait for one or two weeks until your regular cleaner returns... if this is not convenient for you, we'll endeavour to find you a temporary cleaner for the period of time your regular cleaner is off

9) Your cleaner has to take a prolonged period of time off

You will be without a cleaner for a long period of time and you will either have to find a temporary replacement cleaner (back to square one) or be without a cleaner until your cleaner comes back... if your cleaners reason for being off is an illness, or even a pregnancy it's hard to be sure that they will return

We will find you a replacement cleaner for the period of time your regular cleaner is off... once things have settled down again, if you wish for your replacement cleaner to become your regular cleaner, just let us know

10) Your cleaner decides to leave

Again... this would leave you back to square one

We'll introduce a new cleaner and keep in regular contact until everything settles down again... after all... that's what we do!
